A Glimpse Into Our Homeschool (by Subject)

I can't say enough about this math curriculum. I didn't learn about this math program until about two years ago. Before this I would print things off the internet or use what was cheapest and it showed in the work my kids were producing.

Thank goodness for homeschool blogs of moms who review and post what they are using.  As soon as I ordered the first book, which for Noah was Pre Algebra, I knew I had done the right thing.

What I love most about Teaching Textbooks is the repetition of previous lessons to reinforce concepts so that my kids really get it.

I was NOT very good at math growing up and I didn't want that to happen to my kids so this curriculum was easy for them and for me to use and teach.

Lily has been doing TT since 5th grade so I don't buy the Cd's that can be bought for the workbook. (Thankfully I wasn't that bad at math(: ) But with Noah starting pre algebra I spent the extra money on the Cd's. The Cd goes though each lesson problem step by step. If he got stuck on a concept he would repeat it as many times as he needed to until he got it.

Next time I will write about what we use for Grammar.

Best Vacation Ever

We had the vacation of a lifetime, for us anyway. Usually we're able to go cabin camping or day trips somewhere but this year we stayed at Camelback Resort. It's a ski resort with an indoor waterpark. It was so awesome! It was the best vacation we've ever had. There was something to do for everyone. There was also an indoor mini golf.     And indoor rock climbing and rope courses. The kids had a blast! I was so happy Brooke was able to come with us. It may be her last vacation with us before becoming Mrs Shuff:)   The kids enjoying the massive arcade. This was the view from our bedroom!   Of course Noah bought his game console.  Here's daddy and daughter getting ready to shred on the slopes!! When we came back from vacation that night was our church's teen takeover night. Lily sang with a group and Noah preached and did a phenomenal job!!

Where Did July Go?

My intention was to write again the end on July but somehow I missed it because here it is August. Oh well. The rest of July was going pretty good. Brooke came home for another visit to race in Spartan upstate and we got to visit my SIL which was really nice. It's so peaceful up there. I loved it! Then I got to go to the beach with the kids and some friends which was great because the kids haven't been to the beach in years...such a blessing. We're going again Tuesday:)   Also I've been babysitting my nephew Christian which has been so much fun. That kid is full of energy!   And then this little (not so little) disaster happened...   TERMITES!!!! What began as a remodeling project turned into a nightmare. I just wanted to turn Brooke's old room into a guest/game room. When we opened up the walls is was a nightmare come true.  And those little suckers were gnawing away at my poor house for years apparently. It's going to take up to si...

Fear Is a Liar

About 10 days ago, America was turned upside down because of a fast-moving virus, Covid-19. On Thursday, March 12, I went to the grocery store to do my normal grocery shopping. There was plenty of water, toilet paper, food, and household cleansers. The very next day, with every news channel constantly talking about what may happen in the next few days, I decided to go back out to the stores and grab a few extra essentials, "just in case". I've never seen anything like it. Seemingly and actually overnight, there was a mad dash from the public to panic buy as if a blizzard was coming. The shelves, which just the previous day was stocked, were now empty. It was honestly one of the most frightening things I've ever experienced. I began to buy things that I wasn't even sure I needed. The sense of urgency to buy dry or canned goods was heightened. I looked for toilet paper, gone. I looked for disinfectant wipes, none! My anxiety was through the roof thinking abo...
