Friday Before the Wedding

This is pretty much what we did on Friday. It was the day before the wedding. We woke up to cows gently mooing again. More coffee and laughter but with an undertone of seriousness. We spent the day putting centerpieces and bouquets together. Brooke was stressing but, how sweet it was to watch her future husband lending a helping hand and speaking words of affirmation. And then, she snapped at him. He took it in stride though and used the opportunity to lighten the atmosphere by putting his smartphone to his mouth and asking Google, "How can I fix my future wife's bad attitude"....Oh yes he did! The room bust into laughter, including the bride to be. The centerpieces came out beautifully.   That morning I had to step out to get some things. When I came back Brooke had the bouquets done including hers. Now mind you, I had planned on giving her a special gift that day for her bouquet as a surprise. She showed me her beautiful pink and white bouquet and I pr...

Drum Roll Please....

Finally the day is here! The day I write about Brooke and Seth's wedding. It's been so busy this summer but I'm so excited to remember this day in detail and journal it to look back on always. The days we spent in Virginia, I tried to write down everything just so we could look back on it someday. So much is happening it's hard to keep up and of course it goes so quickly. What a magical day it was. Let's start from the beginning. Wednesday, April 20th 2016 The drive down wasn't so bad. Mike, the kids and I left at a good time and hit minimal traffic. I can't say the same for the Maid of Honor or the Bride and Groom though:/  Anyway, when we arrived we were greeted by the friendly dog you see below. His name was Baxter and he was as happy as anything to play "fetch" with the kids. They just loved him! The owner of the house was warm and welcoming and very forgiving. (We created so much trash; I felt terrible but, they were great about it...

Day Two...Algebra, Discipleship and Biology

Thankful for how smoothly day two went. The kids were done by 1!  Today I witnessed Noah and Lily talking about Biology which was thrilling. They were so cute talking excitedly about what they learned. Noah is doing Algebra 2 and Lily started Algebra 1 and because it's the same company, Teaching Textbooks , the format is the same; so it's almost like they are learning the same topic but for Noah it's more in depth.  It's nice seeing him helping Lily when she gets stumped, which I'm sure will happen a lot this year, ugh. Lily and I started the Just Friends  discipleship class today. I think she likes it but with it being about boy/girl relationships she feels a bit awkward but she'll get over it. She asked some good questions which got some good dialogue going. For Noah we began the Legends discipleship study. It's about heroes of the bible and their character traits. I'm hoping it will help him with his leadership roles now and later in life....

First Day of School...Again

I was looking back at some old blog posts. Especially the ones from when I first started blogging. My desire was to journal my homeschooling, housekeeping, church going, God loving, crazy life. I can't help but to feel overwhelmed at God's goodness and provision through it all, Praise Jesus! Today we begin a new school year:( Noah is a junior and Lily a freshman. Yes, I have two high-schoolers. I can hardly believe it. The first day went well. I try to take it easy on them the first week but, nevertheless, it is high school and it will be challenging. Hopefully they won't get too overwhelmed. Although Noah is feeling the pressure a little bit. He's thinking and planning for the future already and is horrified at the thought of "adulting" as the culture says. The Lord gave me wisdom on what to say to settle his mind down about it but I'm sure as time goes on it will creep up now and again. I remember that anxious feeling of, "what am I going to d...

August....Gone as Quickly as July, Merp

I t's like the biblical plague around here. We ended July with a bedroom reno that began in disaster when we found the extensive termite damage in the future game room. Getting rid of them was very costly. Praying it works and gets rid of them for good!   We're looking forward to getting a cool hang out space for our teen aged kids. Two weeks later we went on our first vacation without our oldest Brooke.  It was different and a bit sad. She tends to be the life of the party. The one who gets us up and moving onto an adventure. I missed that. We still did a great deal and had some much needed rest and down time. I think my hubby likes to drive on the winding roads up there and see the look of sheer horror on my face as I anticipate driving off a cliff. Pretty good vacation until we came back.     Literally turned onto our road and the car started making a terrible grinding noise. Although I'm thankful it didn't happen on our vacation, we...

Where Did July Go?

My intention was to write again the end on July but somehow I missed it because here it is August. Oh well. The rest of July was going pretty good. Brooke came home for another visit to race in Spartan upstate and we got to visit my SIL which was really nice. It's so peaceful up there. I loved it! Then I got to go to the beach with the kids and some friends which was great because the kids haven't been to the beach in years...such a blessing. We're going again Tuesday:)   Also I've been babysitting my nephew Christian which has been so much fun. That kid is full of energy!   And then this little (not so little) disaster happened...   TERMITES!!!! What began as a remodeling project turned into a nightmare. I just wanted to turn Brooke's old room into a guest/game room. When we opened up the walls is was a nightmare come true.  And those little suckers were gnawing away at my poor house for years apparently. It's going to take up to si...
